Related Items Wanted A new capstain or some way of repairing mine.

The HP-85 was a logical extension of the HP Calculator line that added a bigger screen and more storage to stronger calculating ability.

By including BASIC with the machine they also added programmability. With the addition of "option drawers" the machine was as expandable as any other on the market.

The Hewlett Packard 85 in it's custom-built box

The HP-85 in my collection came to me in a custom built box that easily outweighs the machine, but protects it well.

The open Hewlett Packard 85 case

The case has two sections. The upper opening gives access to storage for tapes, documentation and spare paper

Hewlett Packard 85 documentation

There is a lot of documentation. This is only a small part of it.

The Hewlett Packard 85 covered in an HP dustcover

Inside of its lower compartment the Hewlett Packard 85 is covered with a nice HP cover.

I've never seen an HP-85 closeup, but I used an HP-87 back in the late 1980's when studying EE at a university. Loved doing electronic lab graphs on it. Fun times. I think I still have the manual (looks similar to those HP-85 manuals in your photos).

I have just aquired a huge collection of HP-85 machines and rom pacs, software, hardware and manuals of all types. I have not even begun to sort through it all yet. If you have a specific item you need please contact me at the above email address. I have software on 5.25 disc, disc pacs, new tape cartridges never opened and a bunch of other stuff I will be sorting through in the next weeks including cables and interfaces.

My name is sunny and I am after some spare parts viz CPU, I/O RAM and video ROM for HP-85. If you could supply the parts or provide a contact who could do so, the effort would be appreciated.

These were called calculators as a sales/marketing ploy. Buyers were having trouble getting purchases for computers approved. However, companies more easily allowed for the purchases of 'calculators'.We actually still use am HP-85 to run a piece of equipment at our facility. Very reliable after 24+ years of service.

The HP-85s processor ran (runs?) at 634KHz.
